Specular Interactions

Specular Interactions
The exhibition "Specular Interactions" seeks to draw a parallel between the physical phenomenon of specular reflection and the three key moments of the process: initiation, interaction, and reflection. This concept aims to create a symbiosis between the ray of light and the surface, evoking the moment and the interdependence that is formed between the exhibit and the individual. "Specular Interactions" encompasses a valuable body of works representing a series of artists through their exhibits, categorized into three groups: exhibits that depict the premise of initiating contact, exhibits that present the axiom of interaction, and the last class, those which we can reflect upon.

The exhibition aims to put into practice two concurrent processes: From an overlaid perspective on the art space, which means implementing the phenomenon of specular reflection within the space: the visitor moves through the three aforementioned categories. The internal process through which the individual moves from one exhibit to another, a constant and self-sustained action, and the moment when they leave the exhibition space.

The idea of comparison stems from the aesthetics of relational art, as proposed by Nicolas Bourriaud, concerning the visitor who, whether consciously or subconsciously, establishes a relationship with the artwork. The process of continuous observation throughout the exhibition is crucial, as the denouement can only be shaped in the most authentic manner when not only discussed but also put into action: observed, commented upon, and argued.

In essence, "Specular Interactions" encourages a dynamic engagement with the art and space, allowing visitors to experience and reflect upon the interplay of light, surface, and personal perception, thus blurring the lines between the physical and the aesthetic.
Curatorial Text:
Specular Interactions invites visitors into a space of doubt and contemplation, encouraging an introspective approach to contemporary art. The exhibition offers the viewer a journey through the phenomenon of specular reflections, in which the rays of light describe their dynamics with art - initiation, interaction, and reflection.

In the act of initiation, the Sun's radiance breathes life into the surfaces it graces, mirroring the enchantment evoked by exhibits that pique our curiosity. Interaction beckons us to shape perceptions of the artworks, akin to the swift dance of light, while reflection gracefully guides us into personal meditation inspired by what we have seen and felt.
Between visitors and exhibits, a multisensory dialogue unfolds, featuring works ranging from paintings to sculptures and interactive installations. This diverse experience is brought to life through the contributions of artists: Andreea Grigoraș, Laurențiu Zbircea, Ioana Tocoaie, Ștefan Găleanu, Teodor Buruiană, and Maria Brinet, whose talent and vision reflect themes such as nature, sensitivity, intimacy, and many more.

Moving from one emotion to another, from one thought to another, the exhibition is a journey through various emotional states and ideas, inviting the visitators to explore their inner self in the depth of the artworks. Specular Interactions is an artistic experience that remains with the visitor long after the light of the last piece has reflected.

Reflection and mirroring, key concepts for navigating the exhibition, are the protagonists of a subtle play on words. Firstly, it is a tribute to specular reflections and the subtleties of light that emerge in the exhibits. Simultaneously, it is an invitation for reflection that encourages the visitor to let their mind float, contemplate each shade and detail, transforming into their own mirror observer of their artistic experiences.
